D.N. Pareek

Product Development Head EPACK PETROCHEM

I’m DN Pareek, and I currently serve as a Senior Production Manager at Epack Petrochem. With over 38 years of experience in the EPS sector, I have focused primarily on the EPS industry. My role involves overseeing manufacturing operations to ensure we deliver top-quality expanded polystyrene products. I coordinate between R&D, quality assurance, and production teams to uphold our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction across all EPS product lines.

I was drawn to EPS production because of its versatility and wide range of applications—from packaging to insulation. The challenge of optimizing production processes and developing environmentally responsible materials inspired me to specialize in this field. Over time, I have witnessed how EPS evolved as a key material contributing to energy savings and waste reduction across industries.

One major challenge is maintaining consistent quality while scaling production to meet growing demand. Another is the increasing need for sustainability, including reducing environmental impact and integrating circular economy principles. Our team addresses these by investing in advanced process controls and innovation, alongside robust recycling and waste reduction programs. We also adapt quickly to evolving regulations and market expectations, ensuring our EPS products meet the highest standards.

At Epack Petrochem, we’ve introduced cutting-edge foam expansion technologies that enhance product uniformity and reduce energy consumption during manufacturing. We also employ real-time monitoring systems that optimize raw material usage and minimize defects. On the sustainability front, we have integrated recycled content into certain product lines and developed processes that reduce greenhouse gas emissions—helping us align with global environmental goals.

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through energy-efficient production methods and by maximizing the use of recycled EPS materials. Our recycling initiatives focus not only on internal waste but also on post-consumer EPS recovery programs. These efforts support a circular economy where materials are reused rather than discarded. Additionally, we continuously explore bio-based alternatives and greener raw materials to future-proof our operations.

EPS packaging is vital for its lightweight, shock-absorbing, and insulating properties, which protect products from damage and temperature fluctuations. Innovations such as customizable EPS foam shapes and biodegradable coatings are particularly exciting because they meet growing consumer demands for sustainable packaging without compromising protection. I see EPS packaging evolving as a leader in eco-friendly, high-performance logistics solutions.

EPS insulation is widely used for its excellent thermal resistance, helping buildings reduce heating and cooling energy consumption. Its durability and moisture resistance make it ideal for various construction applications, from walls to roofing. Emerging trends include enhanced fire-retardant properties and increased use in green building certifications. The construction industry’s push for sustainability continues to drive innovation in EPS insulation technology.

EPS geofoam is a lightweight fill material used to reduce load on soil and structures in civil engineering projects. It’s commonly applied in road embankments, retaining walls, and slope stabilization. The demand is growing because geofoam offers cost savings, ease of installation, and durability compared to traditional materials. Its ability to minimize environmental disruption makes it an attractive solution for sustainable infrastructure development.

My day involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to monitor production schedules, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives. Critical skills include a solid understanding of polymer science, process engineering, and safety standards, combined with leadership skills to motivate teams and problem-solve effectively. Staying adaptable and fostering a culture of innovation are also essential to navigate the fast-evolving EPS market.

I actively participate in industry conferences, workshops, and training programs. Memberships in professional organizations such as EUMEPS help me network and share knowledge with peers. I track regulatory updates closely to ensure compliance and attend webinars and research presentations on new materials and technologies. Collaborations with academic institutions also keep me at the forefront of innovation.

My advice is to build a strong foundation in chemical engineering or materials science, and to seek hands-on experience in production environments. Stay curious and open to learning about new technologies and sustainability practices. Developing problem-solving skills and understanding the broader market and environmental context will position you for long-term success. Networking and mentoring are also invaluable in growing your career.

I envision Epack Petrochem becoming a global leader not only in producing high-quality EPS materials but also in pioneering sustainable manufacturing practices. We aim to expand our product portfolio to include next-generation EPS solutions that address rising environmental challenges while maintaining cost-effectiveness. Through continuous innovation, customer partnerships, and commitment to circular economy principles, we strive to shape a resilient and responsible future for the EPS industry.
